This has been a very exciting time for me and my family. Tomorrow will mark four weeks to the day that my father fell from a ladder, not more than four feet up, and broke his neck. He also dislocated his right shoulder. Since that time, we have seen him in traction (a metal halo attached to his skull with small weights pulling on his neck to relieve the pressure on the nerves therein), we watched him intubated and on a respirator, fed through a feeding tube, fight through delirium and be discharged to an acute rehabilitation facility. Thank God for all your prayers and thoughts throughout all of this! He suffered no paralysis, nor will he have to wear the neck brace for the rest of his life. He also has feeling and control (for the most part at this time) in all his limbs! Tomorrow, he will be discharged for home! I just can’t believe all we’ve been through these last four weeks. Without the support we’ve received, I just don’t know where we would be right now. Also, during this time, I got engaged and will be married in August! Forgive me if it seems I should spend more time here but, sufficed to say, we are both absolutely certain in each other and have no reservations about anything. Today is a great day, my friends! Imagine what tomorrow will bring. Stay tuned. D.F.
